Tuscan Residence in Newport Beach

Inspired by Tuscan vernacular architecture, on a gentle hill with expansive ocean views of Newport Harbor, this residence was designed to best enjoy the pleasant coastal climate. Ocean side walls contain large glass doors which are slid into thick wall pockets, turning the house into an open “Ocean Cabana” complete with ocean breezes. Santa Barbara rubble stone, reclaimed Italian roof tiles, and steel-trowelled stucco form the exterior skin while within, rustic wide planked floors, rough sawn trusses, travertine detailing, and reclaimed carved sinks, light fixtures and furnishings, recall the casual elegance of Old World wineries and Italian farmhouses.
